I was an in-patient for a week and couldn't have asked for better care from any of the staff. They were all totally dedicated to the care of their patients.

I wanted to write a review about my experience of attending for an out-patient appointment with my brother-in-law on Monday 24th April. There were two things that stood out one very good and one not so good. The car parking was appalling. There were queues of cars from the car park entrance right back onto the public road going back towards the m65. The situation was dreadful. The Trust management need to find ways to improve this situation before a major accident is caused or an emergency ambulance cannot get into the hospital. Everybody who was attending for an appointment was late. From the car we had to ring into the hospital to let the department know we were sat in a queue and couldn't come in until we could park the car. The good experience was that in the mayhem of the car parking issue my husband dropped me off at the main entrance. I hobbled (operation on foot last week) to reception and explained the car parking problem to one of the receptionists and asked if someone could help me to get to the clinic so that I would not be even later for my appointment than I already was, having to wait for my husband to park and then wheelchair me to the clinic. One of the receptionist was extremely helpful and went to get me a wheelchair and then took me to the clinic - which was a long way from the main entrance. She was really helpful, pleasant and reassuring at what was, for me a very stressful time. I'm sorry I didn't know her name, but I hope from the information above you will be able to let her know how grateful I was for her help and understanding. Thank you.

A first class NHS service provided to me during my day care visit for surgery. Everyone was so helpful abd cheerful to ease the often difficult experience of going into hospital. Steve and Anna in particular on the day care ward were great. All the best to everybody who works on the day care ward, you are doing a great job. Kind Regards Andrew Lawless

I find this very difficult as most of the care I have received were excellent, with caring friendly staff. The first time I stayed the staff were professional, friendly and very caring. Then fracture clinic staff, all very helpful and calming. However, after my operation, ward B22, it really was all down hill. I felt like some of the staff treated me like a dementia patient. The bell was rarely answered, some staff asking did I have a cast on? and when I first asked for pain relief I was told pain was to be expected, which I was fully aware of, I also knew it could be controlled. My bed was broken so it could not be raised for my ankle. Another unpleasant incident, where my dignity was not considered, left on a commode when I was able to use the toilet, left for what seemed like an age without any toilet tissue and open back gown! This left me in tears. I was offered no hot drink on my first morning until lunchtime and only then, when a visitor asked for one for me. The next evening, much better pain relief, but I cannot remember anyone coming in at all. When I asked they said they had lost my notes. I remember asking for water at 6am and was given a glass as all the jugs had gone to the wash. They jugs were returned at 9am and all I had was a little water to swallow my tablets. Three hours without a jug of water is totally unacceptable. On the whole my experience at the hospital from 15th Jan up until yesterday at the fracture clinic was a positive experience, profess all and caring staff. The two nights spent on B22 was horrendous. Luckily I did come across some lovely staff, especially the nurse on my last morning and the nurse who sorted out all my medicines for me.
